Seal surprise – Westfjords Iceland
At last light, a silvery shape approached, glimmering from the deep. A seal swam around me, both of us equally as curious, the seal was almost waving. With the climate crisis warming our seas, seal pupping seasons are arriving earlier, pushing vulnerable pups into stormier, less predictable conditions. What once followed the rhythm of light and tide is now thrown off course.
Selaskoðun – Vestfirðir
Við síðustu birtu kom silfrað form í ljós úr dýpinu. Selur synti í kringum mig, við bæði jafn forvitin, selurinn virtist nánast veifa. Með hlýnandi sjó vegna loftslagsbreytinga koma selungar nú fyrr og verða fyrir meiri stormum og óútreiknanlegum aðstæðum. Það sem áður fylgdi ljósi og flóði er nú á flakki.
