Northern gannets are monogamous birds, often returning to the same mate and nesting site year after year. Their pair bonds are strong, reaffirmed each season with ritualised dances and mutual preening. This image, though a solo moment in the plunge, speaks to the endurance and devotion that defines their life above the waves. Beneath the surface, the solitary dive is instinctual, but their lives are woven into loyal, lifelong partnerships and trust in that the wild edges will provide for them.
